How and where do you get your water and electricity?
My tiny house is like a caravan, it has plugs outside to hook it to a power source and to a rain water tank in the property.
Can I come and visit to have a look at your tiny house?
Thank you for the interest but I’m a very private person so I hesitate to invite anyone to my home unless I personally know them.
Do you have WIFI?
I have a mobile plan with Optus which gives me 80GB of data per month for only $40. I use my phone’s personal hotspot when I’m using my computer. Signal is not always strong in the farm but I can live with it.
What do you do for work?
I do IT-related work for a not-for-profit organisation.
How did you find the spot for your tiny house?
I called a friend and she happened to have the perfect spot in their property 😊 But before that I did everything I could – posted ads on Gumtree (Australia’s equivalent of Craig’s List) , joined FB communities, posted flyers on local community boards and told friends and work mates I was looking for a spot for my tiny house so they could spread the word.
Can you move your tiny house?
Yes. It has wheels so it can be towed in case I need to find another spot.
What is your average power consumption per month?
I have a digital sub meter that allows me to track my kWh usage. In summer I average 40 kWh and in winter it can go up to 100 kWh if I use my oil heater a lot. I use gas for stove top cooking and water heater. I empty 8.5kg LPG bottle every 2 months. In winter I can easily empty a bottle in a month.
